Effect

You petition your deity for miraculous intervention in a moment of extreme need. Make a Favor Check (d20 + Mind bonus vs TN 16) to determine the response. Your deity may grant an effect equivalent to a cleric spell of 6th level or lower, or a unique miracle aligned with their portfolio. The intervention respects existing divine wards, cosmic law, and other deities' domains.

Favor Check Modifiers:
+2 if the request aligns perfectly with your deity's portfolio and tenets
+2 if cast at a sacred site, sanctified altar, temple or with a major offering
+2 if life-and-death stakes threaten the faithful
+0 if cast during active combat (no positive modifiers apply)
-2 if the request conflicts with divine taboos or another deity's domain
-6 if the request would violate cosmic law or rewrite fate (nat 20 ineffective)

Results of 1d20 roll:
20+ Major Intercession: Effect equivalent to up to 6th level cleric spell or unique miracle of similar scope. Duration: minutes to hours.
16-19 Minor Intercession: Effect equivalent to up to 4th level spell or brief divine aid. Duration: rounds to minutes.
12-15 Divine Sign: Omen, revelation, guidance, brief protection, or a reroll for one ally.
11 or lower Denied: No effect. Natural 1 may invoke divine displeasure.

Special Notes

The intervention must serve a purpose aligned with your deity's portfolio and goals (see below). You can only call upon Deific Intercession once per week with no penalties - if additional attempts before the week passes suffer -4 penalty to Favor Check Modifiers and risk divine displeasure on failure. Effects cannot exceed 6th level spell power, cannot undo cosmic law, and cannot trivially override another deity's active miracles or consecrated ground. The DN determines the specific form and effects of the intervention within these bounds. Bypasses the body entirely for appropriate effects. Portfolio examples: War gods grant tactical advantages or smite enemies; Sea gods calm storms or part waters; Knowledge gods reveal truth or grant perfect recall; Death gods halt undead or ease passing; Justice gods compel testimony or reveal guilt.
