The Skunk Ape is a broad, dark-haired primate of southern swamps, recognized as much by its overwhelming odor as by tracks and glimpsed movement. It watches camps from palmetto cover, steals food, and retreats through water no ordinary pursuer can cross quickly. Cornering it releases panic, strength, and a stench capable of ending the chase by itself.
