A Hitotsume-kozo resembles a young monk with one enormous eye in the center of a smooth face. It appears at quiet doors, peers into ledgers, and startles solitary travelers before fleeing with delighted laughter. Though rarely murderous, it remembers insults and may return with every household secret it managed to read through keyholes and paper walls.
