A Jikininki is the cursed spirit of someone whose greed or sacrilege reduced the afterlife to eating corpses. It appears almost human until hunger lengthens its arms and pulls the mouth across the face. The creature haunts burial places, ashamed of what it does but unable to stop while funerary rites remain neglected or treated as business.
