A Jack-o'-Lantern is a wandering light housed inside a carved gourd with a grinning human expression. It bobs along marsh roads, grave paths, and autumn fields, offering just enough illumination to make the wrong route look safe. Some contain a trickster spirit; others are souls barred from both welcome and rest. All become furious when another light exposes what lies beyond their glow.
