A Hob is a sturdy household or farm spirit with rough hands, an old cap, and an offended sense of fair exchange. It performs unfinished chores at night when treated as part of the household, but abandons or ruins the work when paid like a servant. Mistreatment makes a Hob exact, literal, and determined to reveal how much invisible labor the household ignored.
