El Silbón is a gaunt wandering spirit carrying a sack of bones and announcing himself with a simple whistle. The sound reverses distance: a nearby whistle means he is far away, while a faint one means he is already near. He stalks drunkards, abusers, and solitary travelers, though generations of retelling have widened the list of people who fear his approach.
