The bramble centipede doesn't commit to close combat - it darts in, leaves barbs behind, then retreats to spray thorns from a distance. Grabbing it means punctured hands, and even missed swings draw blood. It's persistent rather than brave, wearing down targets with repeated strikes until something gives.
