Monster Trove: Things Others Swore They Saw

Pukwudgie

Small

About

Knee-high, grey-skinned, with a nose and fingers longer than they ought to be, and an extremely precise sense of how it has been spoken to. A pukwudgie left alone is a nuisance at worst. A pukwudgie mocked, chased or grabbed at becomes a permanent feature of your life. They push people off cliffs. They set fires. They do it years later and they do it in the right order.

Special Attack

Push: bludgeoning, melee 5 ft, +2 to hit, 1d6+1, and it always fights adjacent to a drop, a fire or deep water if one exists. Vanish and Return: no roll and no save. It spends its turn disappearing and reappears anywhere within 60 ft, always behind, and cannot be attacked during that turn.

Special Defense

Gone: it cannot be tracked, held or hit on any round it chooses to spend vanishing. Grudge: any creature that mocks, seizes or strikes at it first is marked. That creature is attacked in preference to all others, and if the pukwudgie is driven off it will follow that creature for years. Respect: addressed politely and given room, it withdraws and the encounter ends. This is not a trick and it works the first time.
