A Nue is a night creature assembled from monkey, tiger, serpent, and tanuki-like features, wrapped in a black cloud. Its cry spreads illness and sleepless dread before anyone sees the body. The Nue attacks from above rooflines and treetops, using uncertainty as carefully as claw and fang. Dispersing the cloud forces all its incompatible parts into one visible target.
