Mosaic Basilisk
About
A tile-scaled reptile that lies flat against old floor mosaics, indistinguishable from the art until its painted eyes open. It waits to be walked over before it strikes, so the first warning is usually a stiffening leg. Meet its gaze and your body slows, then sets; fail twice and the stone keeps whatever shape it caught you in.
