Grindylow
About
Long green fingers coming up out of the weed at the edge of a mill pond. Northern parents describe it in detail to children specifically so the children will not go near the water, and the description has done more good than any fence ever managed. It cannot leave the shallows. Everything about it is designed for the eighteen inches of water directly under the bank.

Traits
Special Attack
Long Fingers: bludgeoning, melee 10 ft from the water's edge, +3 to hit, 2d6+2, and on a hit the target is pulled into the shallows. Hold Under: against a creature already in the water, no attack roll - save Con Tough or begin drowning. It keeps hold until the held creature wins a Strength Chance Roll against a TN the DN sets, or until an adjacent creature spends a turn hauling them out, which succeeds automatically from dry land. Cooldown 1 round.
Special Defense
Of the Weed: submerged in weed it cannot be seen until it strikes, and it attacks with Advantage on the first round of any encounter. Fifteen Feet From the Water: it cannot leave the shallows and its reach ends 10 ft from the edge. Any creature standing 15 ft or more back from the water is entirely out of its range, and locals give the bank a wide berth for exactly this reason while visitors walk the towpath.
