Monster Trove: Things Others Swore They Saw

Gancanagh

Medium

About

He appears in the lonely places between farms, leaning on a gate with a clay pipe, and he is very good company. Nothing about the encounter feels like an attack. The harm shows up afterward, in the weeks where the person he spoke to stops eating, stops working, and sits looking at the road. Country people call it pining and know exactly what caused it. The gancanagh has already moved on and does not think of them again.

Special Attack

Sweet Talk: 30 ft, save Wis Mind, fail save roll 1d4+1 psychic and the target will not attack him for the rest of the encounter. Cooldown 2 rounds. Idle Touch: bludgeoning, melee 5 ft, +2 to hit, 1d4+1, and the damage is beside the point.

Special Defense

Pining: any creature that takes damage from Idle Touch, or that willingly touches him, becomes Weary and cannot recover from it by rest. Only distance from him, and time, will do it - a season, or longer. Never Fights: he leaves rather than kill. Anyone who drives him off has almost certainly not solved their problem.
