Bear
About
A bear is an immense forager whose nose finds food through closed packs, buried stores and thin cabin walls. It usually warns with huffs, jaw claps and a short rush, but hunger, cubs or a defended carcass can carry it through spear points. Once it reaches someone, weight matters as much as claws; the bear pulls prey close and mauls until resistance stops.

Traits
Special Attack
Crushing Maul: slashing, melee 5 ft, +4 to hit, 2d8+3. The target makes a Tough save; on a failed save, the bear holds it against the ground. The held target takes 1d6 damage at the start of each turn until it or an ally uses a turn and succeeds on a Tough save to break the hold.
Special Defense
Food Before Blood: before the bear or its cubs are harmed, abandoning a food pack or carcass may end the encounter. Fire forces a Mind save but does not automatically drive away a starving bear. Thick fur gives the bear resistance to natural cold.
