Effect
Writing that has been scraped, overwritten, inked out, torn up, or burned comes back. Put the page, the scrapings, or the ash inside and shut the lid; by morning the original stands whole in the original hand, on new paper. One night's work at a time, up to 200 pages, and nothing destroyed more than a hundred years ago - the lid will not lift again until dawn once it is shut on a restoration. Restores the words only, never any magic the document carried. Anything else left inside stays dry and unfaded for ever.
About
Pewter, flat, the length of a forearm, lined with grey felt and smelling of oak gall and cold iron.
