A black dog with no head, running the old lanes and hollow ways between midnight and cockcrow, and crying as it goes. The cry is the reason people bar the door rather than look. It is the sound of a child in distress, close by, on the road outside, going past and then coming back past. In the west country they say it is the ghost of an unbaptised child, and they say it cannot leave the old roads, and the second part is the useful part.

Bite: piercing, melee 5 ft, +3 to hit, 2d6+2. The Crying: 100 ft, save Wis Mind, fail save roll 1d6+2 psychic and the target must move toward the sound - it is a child, it is right there, and it is not. Cooldown 2 rounds.
Special Defense
Bound to the Old Roads: it cannot leave a lane, hollow way, drove road or ancient track, and it cannot cross a running stream or a churchyard wall. A single step onto open field or new ground puts a creature entirely out of its reach, and it will run alongside at the field's edge for as long as the road lasts. Only Between Midnight and Cockcrow: at the first cock it is gone, wherever the fight has got to.
