The wolpertinger is assembled from the parts a mountain tavern tale finds funniest: hare, antlers, wings, fangs and sometimes webbed feet. The ridiculous anatomy conceals a dangerous little raider. At dusk a group erupts from the brush in several directions, biting boots, fouling packs and carrying off anything bright enough to become the next story. A person who has drunk too much sees them perfectly; a sober witness sees movement and doubts every detail afterward.
Special Attack
Antlered Leap: piercing, melee 5 ft, +3 to hit, 1d6+2. Tumbling Mob: creatures in a 15 ft cone make a Quick save; those that fail take 1d6 bludgeoning damage and fall down. A wolpertinger can use Tumbling Mob only while at least two others remain nearby.
Special Defense
Tavern-Beast: a creature carrying strong spirits may spend its turn pouring them onto the ground. Every wolpertinger within 20 ft makes a Mind save or stops to drink for 1 round. Brightly polished tin thrown beyond the encounter draws them after it unless they succeed on a Mind save.
