Ubume

An Ubume is the spirit of a woman who died in childbirth, appearing in rain with an infant wrapped against her chest. She begs a passerby to hold the child, which grows impossibly heavy while she disappears to complete an unfinished task. The encounter may be dangerous, but the spirit's purpose is protection, burial, or ensuring that the living child is acknowledged.

Weight of the Child: one creature within 10 ft makes a Tough save or becomes held beneath the bundle. The weight increases by 1d6 damage each round until another creature helps carry it.

Carry Together: two creatures sharing the bundle automatically end Weight of the Child. Protecting the child or fulfilling the mother's request allows the Ubume to depart peacefully.
