The mapinguari walks upright beneath the canopy with one vast mouth across its belly and a stench that empties hunting trails. It turns axes from old trees and drives hunters away from places the forest cannot replace.
Special Attack
Belly Maw: piercing, melee 10 ft, +6 to hit, 4d10+6. Forest Stench: creatures beginning their turn within 30 ft make a Tough save; on a failed save they are weary and suffer -2 to attacks until they leave the area.
Special Defense
Backward Hide: DR 6 against attacks from behind and DR 3 from the front. Its belly mouth has AC 13 and DR 0 when open. It ends pursuit when intruders abandon felled timber, extinguish their fire and cross beyond the oldest trees.
