Manticore

A lion's spite, a man's grin, and a tail full of bad decisions. It worries prey with spikes, then finishes up close. It patrols a stretch of hill or ruin on leathern wings, loosing volleys of tail-spikes at anything that looks soft, and it nurses an almost personal grudge against whatever survives the first pass. It talks, too - just well enough to gloat.
