    A jiangshi is a corpse made rigid by trapped breath and restless qi. It advances in terrible hopping strides, following the warmth of living breath through doors and darkness.

    Special Attack

    Steal Breath: necrotic, melee 5 ft, +4 to hit, 2d8+3. The target makes a Tough save; on a failed save it is weary and cannot speak above a whisper for 1d4 rounds. Hopping Crush: bludgeoning, melee 5 ft, +4 to hit, 2d6+3.

    Special Defense

    Talisman on the Brow: a creature within reach may spend its turn placing a properly written ward on the jiangshi and make a Quick save. On a success the jiangshi is held while the paper remains intact. It cannot sense a creature that holds its breath and remains still.
