It began as a fraud. Some sailor dried a skate, cut and twisted the flesh into a face, folded the fins into arms, varnished it and sold it in a port town as a preserved devil. It hung in a curiosity cabinet for forty years being pointed at, and at some point in all that pointing it began to resent the arrangement. It is small, dry, light as paper, and extremely angry about what it is.

Bitter Claw: slashing, melee 5 ft, +2 to hit, 1d4+1. Show What I Am: 10 ft, save Wis Mind, fail save roll 1d4 psychic as it forces a creature to look closely and understand exactly how it was made, cooldown 2 rounds.

Dry Thing: it takes double damage from fire and from being submerged. Curiosity: it cannot bring itself to attack a creature that is genuinely examining it with interest rather than fear, and will pose instead, which is its whole tragedy.
