Falak is the immense serpent beneath the created world, below seas, mountains, and the great supporting beasts of cosmological tradition. It refrains from consuming everything only through fear of the power that made it. When disturbed, its movement becomes earthquake, its breath becomes volcanic heat, and ordinary distance ceases to describe how much body is present.
