The raised hood is meant to be seen. A cobra lifts its body and follows movement with unnerving precision, warning anything near a nest, burrow or patch of shade before venom is spent. The danger begins when someone reaches, steps closer or blocks retreat; then the snake crosses the remaining distance in a single strike.
Special Attack
Venom Strike: piercing, melee 5 ft, +3 to hit, 1d4 damage. The target makes a Tough save; on a failed save, it takes 2d6 poison damage and becomes Weary for 1 hour.
Special Defense
Displayed Warning: a creature that sees the raised hood may use its turn to back at least 10 ft away. If a clear retreat remains, the cobra will not pursue. Heavy boots or leg armor provide +1 Tough against Venom Strike.
