The Bugul Noz is so hideous that it will not inflict itself on anyone unwarned, so it calls out from the treeline first, three times, giving travellers every chance to turn their faces away or take another path. It is gentle. It has never hurt anybody. It would very much like company and has long since accepted that it cannot have any, and it weeps about this where it thinks it cannot be heard.
Special Attack
It attacks only when cornered, and fights to escape rather than to kill. Desperate Flail: bludgeoning, melee 5 ft, +2 to hit, 1d6+1. It breaks away at the first opportunity and does not pursue.
Special Defense
The Warning: it announces itself three times before it can be seen. Any creature that heeds the warning and looks away is never harmed. Unbearable Aspect: a creature that looks upon it directly must save Wis Mind or be Repelled for 1d4 rounds - a reaction it cannot help causing and visibly hates. Kindness Ends It: a creature that speaks to it gently and does not turn away ends the encounter. It will follow that creature at a respectful distance for a season, and it will be useful.
