Almost absent from the water, a box jellyfish appears as a pale cube, trailing lines and a faint distortion where the current should be clear. Its tentacles do not need a deliberate bite. Brushing one releases rows of stinging cells that continue firing against skin, rope and wet clothing while the bell drifts onward.
Special Attack
Trailing Tentacles: poison, melee 10 ft, +2 to hit, 1d4 damage. The target makes a Tough save; on a failed save, it takes 3d6 poison damage and suffers -2 Quick for 1 hour. Cutting or pulling a tentacle with bare hands repeats the save.
Special Defense
Nearly Invisible: spotting the jellyfish in clear water before entering 10 ft requires a successful Chance Roll; murky water increases the difficulty at the DN's discretion. Vinegar poured over attached tentacles stops further stings and allows safe removal.
