A bogey is whatever the dark was going to be anyway. It has no settled shape and borrows the one its victim already fears: the thing under the bed, the shape at the top of the stairs, the figure in the doorway that turns out to be a coat. It thrives on the uncertain glance and the half-look. Being seen plainly, described aloud and named correctly costs it something it cannot easily get back.
Special Attack
Awful Shape: 20 ft, save Wis Mind, fail save roll 1d6+1 psychic and the target is Repelled while it can still see the bogey, cooldown 2 rounds. Snatch: bludgeoning, melee 5 ft, +2 to hit, 1d6+1, and it prefers the smallest creature present.
Special Defense
Borrowed Shape: it appears differently to each creature that sees it, and no two descriptions match. Named Plainly: a creature that describes the bogey aloud, accurately and without flinching, strips it of 5 HP and its Awful Shape for one round. Each creature can do this once.
