- Rites properly performed for the body it came from end it permanently and instantly, wherever it is, mid-fight, without a save. Nothing else destroys it for good.
- Saves
- Quick 2 / Tough 1 / Mind 1
The dead who went badly - violently, or without rites, or by their own hand - and who did not go on. Two things give them away and both are worth knowing. A bhuta casts no shadow, in any light, ever. And a bhuta will not set foot on the ground, so it hovers a hand's breadth above it, or rests in a tree, and the grass under it is never bent.
Special Attack
Cold Hand: necrotic, melee 5 ft, +4 to hit, 2d6+3, and the touch does not feel cold until afterward. Enter: 10 ft, save Wis Mind, fail save roll 2d6+2 psychic and the target speaks in a voice not its own for one round and takes an action of the DN's choosing. Cooldown 3 rounds.
Special Defense
Will Not Touch Earth: it cannot be grappled, tripped or knocked down, and it cannot cross a line of scattered ash or turmeric on open ground. Both are cheap, both are traditional, and a party told about it in advance can pen one into a corner. No Shadow: it is instantly identifiable in any light to anyone who thinks to look, which is the only fair warning anyone gets.
