There is nothing behind you. There are only the footsteps, keeping your pace exactly, stopping a half-beat after you stop. Betobeto-san has never harmed anyone in living memory. It simply follows, all night, in the dark, on the road, and the following is enough to unmake a person by morning. The remedy is old and unglamorous: step aside and say aloud, Betobeto-san, please, go on ahead. The footsteps pass you and continue up the road, and that is the end of it.
Special Attack
It has none, and this is not an oversight. Betobeto-san does not attack, ambush, or defend itself. Any creature that spends a full night followed must save Wis Mind at dawn or be Weary until it has rested two full nights instead of one.
Special Defense
Never There: it cannot be seen, targeted, grappled, tripped, blinded or flanked, and area effects pass through the space it seems to occupy. Stand Aside: any creature that steps off the road and invites it past is released immediately. It takes the invitation every time, without exception or grudge.
