Toll-Keeper's Vestment

A heavy grey vestment hangs from the shoulders in deep, severe folds, with sleeves broad enough to hide both hands. Small iron tokens are chained around the hem; each is stamped with a different gate, bridge, or doorway, and they give a quiet clink whenever someone crosses a threshold nearby.

The wearer always knows whether someone crossing a threshold in their presence intends harm, but not what harm.
