Forlorn Hope Shield

A heavy kite shield with its upper third burned bare and blackened. Beside the arm strap, a name has been scratched into the inside, crossed out, and written again twice.

While the bearer is standing and visible, an enemy within 30 feet that attacks someone else must make a Mind save. On a failure, it attacks the bearer instead. Spend 1 charge to remain at 1 hit point for 3 rounds instead of falling. Afterward, the bearer falls unconscious until rested. No other armor, ward, or blessing works with this shield.
