Capture It. Edit It. Keep It.

Snatch It combines a lightweight screenshot capture utility with a full image editor and permanent screenshot library.

Press the capture hotkey, select what you want, and the screenshot automatically opens in Snatch It for editing.

There is no need to manually create a file, choose a filename, or hunt for the screenshot afterward.

Your captures are automatically saved and organized so you can return to them later.

Screenshot Capture

Snatch It is intentionally focused on still-image capture rather than video recording.

Capture:

  • A selected region of the screen
  • An application window
  • An entire monitor
  • Your desktop
  • A previously selected capture region
  • Screenshots using a configurable capture hotkey

Captured images can automatically open directly in the Snatch It Editor.

Snatch It does not include video recording, webcam recording, microphone recording, or cloud Screencast services.

The idea is simple:

Capture the image. Get it into the editor. Start working.

Built-In Screenshot Editor

The editor is the heart of Snatch It.

Instead of taking a screenshot and then opening another application, Snatch It sends new captures directly into its companion editor.

Use the editor to quickly annotate, explain, crop, highlight, obscure, or prepare screenshots for websites, documentation, email, tutorials, bug reports, and everyday use.

Editing tools include:

  • Crop
  • Resize
  • Text
  • Arrows
  • Lines
  • Rectangles
  • Rounded rectangles
  • Ellipses
  • Callouts
  • Freehand drawing
  • Highlighter
  • Numbered step markers
  • Blur
  • Pixelation
  • Redaction
  • Object selection
  • Object movement and resizing
  • Layer ordering
  • Undo and redo
  • Zoom
  • Fit to window
  • Original Size / 100% view
  • Clipboard copy
  • Image export
  • Printing

Annotations remain editable inside Snatch It projects rather than immediately becoming permanent pixels in the original screenshot.

That means an arrow, text box, callout, or shape can still be moved, resized, recolored, or removed later.

Original Size and Fit View

Snatch It provides separate Fit and Original Size viewing modes.

Fit scales the image so the entire screenshot can be viewed inside the available editing workspace.

Original Size displays the screenshot at its true 100% pixel dimensions.

For large screenshots, this may extend beyond the visible workspace, allowing you to inspect the actual captured pixels without automatic scaling.

Automatic Screenshot Library

Taking screenshots is easy.

Finding the screenshot you took three weeks ago is usually the irritating part.

Snatch It includes a local screenshot library designed to keep captures available after the editing session is over.

Captured images can be organized using information such as:

  • Capture date
  • Year
  • Month
  • Day
  • Source application
  • Window title
  • Capture type
  • Tags
  • Favorites

Thumbnail browsing makes it possible to reopen previous captures and continue working with them.

Your library is stored locally on your computer.

Non-Destructive Editing

Snatch It preserves the original captured image separately from editable annotations.

Text, arrows, shapes, callouts, highlights, and other annotation objects remain individually editable inside the Snatch It project.

Exporting an image creates a flattened image for use elsewhere without destroying the editable project.

This gives you both:

A finished image you can use anywhere

and

An editable project you can return to later

Import Existing Images

Snatch It is not limited to screenshots created by Snatch It.

You can also use the editor with existing image files.

Supported image workflows include common formats such as:

  • PNG
  • JPG / JPEG
  • BMP
  • TIFF
  • WebP
  • Clipboard images

Existing images can be brought into the editor for annotation, cropping, highlighting, redaction, or export.

Built for Local Use

Snatch It does not require an online account.

There is no required cloud storage system sitting between you and your screenshots.

The program is designed around local Windows files and local processing.

That means:

  • No Snatch It account
  • No subscription
  • No advertisements
  • No required cloud upload
  • No telemetry required for normal operation
  • No internet connection required for normal screenshot editing

Your screenshots belong on your computer, not inside somebody else's subscription funnel.

Focused by Design

Snatch It is not trying to become Photoshop.

It is also not trying to become a video production suite.

Its purpose is narrower:

Capture images quickly and provide a capable editor specifically designed for screenshots.

That focus keeps common screenshot tasks close at hand without burying them beneath tools intended for photographers, illustrators, or video editors.

Windows 10 and Windows 11

Snatch It is built for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The application is distributed as a self-contained Windows program.

You do not need to separately install the .NET runtime before using Snatch It.

The installer contains the components required to run the program.

Digitally Signed Windows Application

The public Snatch It installer and its primary application executables are digitally signed using Microsoft Azure Artifact Signing.

Windows can inspect the Authenticode signatures through:

Right-click file → Properties → Digital Signatures

The current release uses SHA-256 signing and includes a trusted timestamp.

The digital signature helps verify that the program has not been altered after the release was signed.

About Windows SmartScreen

Microsoft SmartScreen

Windows may occasionally display a security or reputation warning for newly released software, even when that software has a valid digital signature.

Microsoft SmartScreen considers more than whether an executable has been digitally signed. Reputation can also develop as a particular application and publisher accumulate downloads and usage.

You can independently inspect the Snatch It installer before running it:

Right-click SnatchIt-Setup-0.19.6.exe → Properties → Digital Signatures

A valid signature confirms that Windows recognizes the Authenticode signature attached to the release.

You can also compare the installer against the SHA-256 checksum published above.

Free Screenshot Capture and Editing for Windows

Snatch It was created for people who want screenshots to move directly from capture → edit → organize → reuse without requiring an account or cloud service.

Capture the part of the screen you need.

Mark it up.

Copy it.

Export it.

Find it again later.

That's Snatch It.

Open Dungeons RPG presents Snatch It.
