Paid Content License

Paid sourcebooks, expansions, and adventures purchased from opendungeons.com grant you a personal digital license.

Personal Use Rights

You may:

  • Use PDF files for personal play and reference
  • Print copies for personal use at home
  • Store files on your personal devices

Actual Play and Table Use

You may share paid content with your active gaming group during actual play:

At the Table (In-Person or Online):

  • Share handouts, maps, and reference materials extracted from your PDFs with players in your current game
  • Show relevant pages, stat blocks, or rules sections during active sessions
  • Upload content to private VTT sessions for use with your immediate gaming group

Streaming and Content Creation:

  • Show purchased content on screen during actual play streams or videos
  • Display relevant pages, maps, or rules when demonstrating or reviewing the game
  • Reference and quote from paid content in reviews, guides, or educational content

For paid content, you may not:

  • Paid content, you may not upload full PDF files to public websites, file-sharing services, or cloud storage
  • Paid content, you may not share PDF files with people outside your active gaming group
  • Paid content, you may not provide general access to paid content as a reference library for people who haven't purchased it
  • Paid content, you may not upload paid content to public VTT asset libraries or module marketplaces

Simple rule of thumb: If you're actively using the content to play, stream, or discuss the game, you're good. If you're just distributing files so others don't have to buy them, this genuinely hurts other players who are helping Open Dungeons™ to ensure sustainability and expansions.

Your license is personal. You may not resell, rent, or transfer your digital files to someone else as a substitute for them buying their own copy.

  • You may not use OD artwork, logos, or page layout designs
  • You may not use OD trademarks as titles, logos, or branding
  • You may not present any content as official or endorsed by Open Dungeons™, Open Dungeons RPG™, or Open Dungeons Publishing
